There will always be opportunities for you to get involved with the West Midlands Secure Data Environment (WMSDE).

Patient and Public Advisory Group

Patients and the public are essential to all decision making for the programme. We want to bring together and hear from a diverse group of people who represent the region’s population.

A Patient and Public Advisory Group (PPAG) has been created and we are looking for volunteers with a strong passion for research, the healthcare data environment and improving outcomes for patients.

If you, or anyone you know is interested in joining the PPAG, please let us know by completing our online form. Should you have any questions about the PPAG, or need the application form in a more accessible format, please email us at mlcsu.involvement@nhs.net.

PPAG vlogs

In this series of video logs, or vlogs, members of our Patient and Public Advisory Group explore different aspects of the West Midlands SDE from a patient and public point of view.

Data Trust Committee

The Data Trust Committee will review and approve requests to access the data held in the West Midlands SDE. The committee will ensure the data is used only:

  • by the right people
  • in the right way
  • for the right reasons.

We are looking for people from any background to become members of the committee. You do not need to have any healthcare data, scientific or medical knowledge - just a willingness to help ensure health and care data is used for the benefit of patients and the public. If you are interested in applying to become a member of the West Midlands SDE Data Trust Committee, please click on the following link: https://nhs.welcomesyourfeedback.net/yhto5a

Support our workstreams

If you are looking to find out more about a specific workstream, or to offer your support, please email us at wmsde@uhb.nhs.uk, including as much information as possible.

Take part in our survey

We’d like to know how you feel about your health data being used for research through the West Midlands SDE. Please take a few minutes to tell us your views by clicking on the link below and completing the questionnaire. Your feedback will inform the future of the West Midlands SDE.
